Coleshill Parkway station, West Midlands

RWA Rail was commissioned by Laing Rail to produce a timetable for their Coleshill Parkway station project and to performance model this timetable in RailSys™.

The Coleshill Parkway scheme includes the development of a multi-modal interchange and a new station on the Birmingham to Leicester line. This new interchange will provide improved access to Birmingham International Airport and the National Exhibition Centre from locations east of Birmingham. A half-hourly service train service will call at Coleshill Parkway and RWA Rail worked to achieve this within the constraints of the surrounding rail network.

Performance modelling of the new timetable was undertaken to determine the impact of the new stops on the performance of trains in the surrounding area. The results of this work were used in the business case for the new station. Construction of the new station is underway with its opening planned for the Autumn of 2007.
